IUA LAUNCHES ONLINE ‘FUTURES’ HUB

A new online hub for education opportunities aimed at recent entrants to the London insurance market has been launched by the International Underwriting Association (IUA). The resource showcases ‘IUA Futures’ – a programme to support the next generation of underwriting and claims professionals. It provides details of all the networking events, technical training and other related initiatives hosted by the association.

The IUA Futures programme is led by Ela Metalia, who joined the IUA in 2022 after graduating from Queen Mary University London.

She said: “There has been much recent attention on the London Market’s need to boost its recruitment of new talent, but it is just as important to ensure those people entering the market are trained and developed effectively. This is what the IUA Futures programme seeks to achieve. We are looking to furnish people with the essential skills and professional networks they need to establish successful careers.

“Our programme connects NextGen practitioners with senior industry figures, who can share practical knowledge and expertise. The new IUA Futures online hub will be a central resource for our growing range of opportunities.”

Already in the IUA diary for 2026 are a series of claims bootcamps, providing an introduction to London Market structures and processes. Four policy wordings masterclasses have been scheduled, addressing fundamental questions relating to the drafting of insurance contracts, and there are regular networking breakfasts focussing on individual classes of business.

IUA Futures also encompasses an expanding suite of NextGen market committees that establish a formal structure for new practitioners to meet market peers and discuss industry issues.
