Paul Harman is a seasoned professional in the field of international loss adjusting, with a focus on Marine and Engineering losses.
Born in Consett, Co. Durham, England, Paul brings over 40 years of experience in claims handling to his role as CEO of the PHILA Group.
As an expert in Stock Throughput Losses and Project Cargo, Paul has made notable contributions to the insurance industry through his participation in various conferences and events. His expertise has been invaluable in resolving complex claims and providing comprehensive solutions to clients.
With a remarkable career including three decades attending claims in North America, the Caribbean, Central and South America, Paul's extensive knowledge and hands-on experience have earned him the position of President at PHILA Central America & Caribbean Inc. and the CEO of the PHILA Group.
Paul's dedication to professional development is evident through his qualification as an FCII with the Chartered Insurance Institute and his language skills, being fluent in both spoken and written Spanish, and possessing a good working knowledge of (Brazilian) Portuguese.
Driven by a passion for excellence and a commitment to providing outstanding service, Paul Harman continues to lead and make a lasting impact in the field of international loss adjusting.
Anthony Menzies is a partner in the London office of DAC Beachcroft, and is the London lead for the firm's Latin American practice. A fluent Spanish speaker, with a working command of Portuguese, the majority of Anthony's practice is devoted to insurance and reinsurance claims in the Latin American region or Spain, working in conjunction with the firm's local team in each jurisdiction. Anthony's particular area of focus is in marine and energy work, including cargo, hull and ports and terminals, as well as claims in the construction and engineering and property markets, including political violence.
Anthony is a regular speaker at international insurance and reinsurance conferences, both in Europe and Latin America. He is a co-author of the reinsurance volume to Appleman on Insurance Law, one of the leading insurance law texts for US practitioners, and is also a recommended practitioner in the UK directories, noted for work of a "particularly high standard" (Legal 500) and described by clients as "loyal, controlled and considered", with a "superb commercial acumen" (Chambers Directory) and "an extremely capable lawyer with great leadership skills" (Chambers Latin America).
Anthony has twice received the insurance and reinsurance Client Choice Award conferred by the International Law Office, following a survey of a pool of over 2,000 client references. The award recognises excellence in every category of client service, including quality of legal advice, value for money and commercial awareness.
