Climate change is exerting a growing influence on a range of activities within the insurance sector, including investment, underwriting and risk management. The IUA’s Climate Risk Committee was established in 2020 to support members as they consider and respond to the financial risks of climate change facing the insurance industry. It maintains a dialogue with the Prudential Regulation Authority which has published a supervisory statement calling on insurers to develop a strategic approach to managing climate change risk.
